We have brought together four of our most loved YMCA events into one powerful series that highlights wellness, determination, and community spirit. This lineup features the Indoor Triathlon, the iconic Ruthie Run, the Kids Triathlon, and a thrilling finale with a 5K and Kids Color Run. Each event gives participants a chance to push their limits, celebrate wellness, and experience the true spirit of the Y.

Adults must compete in the YMCA OF MIDDLETOWN’s Indoor Triathlon, the 29th Annual Ruthie Run 5K, and South Orange Family YMCA’s Annual 5K to complete the race series.

Teens (ages 11-15) must compete in the 29th Annual Ruthie Run 5K, South Orange Family YMCA’s Annual 5K and choose either the South Orange Family YMCA’s Kids Triathlon or the YMCA OF MIDDLETOWN’s Indoor Triathlon to complete the series.

Kids (ages 1-10) can complete the series by participating in the 29th Annual Ruthie Run Kids Dash, the South Orange Family YMCA’s Kids COLOR Dash, and the South Orange Family YMCA’s Kids Triathlon.

We hope families and friends of all ages will enjoy this exciting new series. Let’s get moving!

Thank You to Our Sponsors:

The Indoor Triathlon welcomes athletes of all levels with a fun, supportive timed swim-bike-run challenge that’s approachable for beginners yet motivating for seasoned racers. With ten total waves this year, it’s a great way to stay active, push your limits, and kick off your season.

The Ruthie Run, now approaching its 29th year, is a cherished Middletown tradition celebrating fitness, community, and the lasting legacy of Ruthie, a beloved local leader whose passion for wellness and giving spirit continue to inspire all who participate.

The Kids Triathlon is our newest, most heartwarming addition to the YMCA Race Series, giving young athletes a fun and supportive way to swim, bike, and run their way to the finish. Families can enjoy a BBQ lunch, free swim at Camp Robbins, and convenient bus service from Valley Central High School as they celebrate every child who “Gives it a Tri!”

Join us for our annual 5K, where you can walk or run in your best fall-themed attire and kids can enjoy the colorful fun of the Kids Color Dash. As the grand finale of the Race Series, it’s a festive day of family fun and the perfect way to celebrate a season of community and accomplishment.

What does this series support?

It supports the families who rely on the YMCA for child care, swim lessons, after-school programs, summer camp pathways, youth leadership, and wellness services that keep our community strong.

Why does it matter?

Many families face financial barriers that limit access to these essential programs. When access is limited, children lose opportunities to learn and grow, working parents lose stability, and the community loses vital support.

How does your participation help?

100% of the proceeds from this series are donated directly back into the community to remove those barriers. Every registration expands financial assistance, strengthens youth development, and ensures that every family has the chance to benefit from the programs they need.
