ALL FALL PROGRAMS
MIDDLETOWN
INFANTS & TODDLERS: AGES 6-36 MONTHS
Family Music & Movement: Bring the whole family together for 30 minutes of singing and dancing.
Music & Movement: Enjoy music and movement together while nurturing your child’s inner musician.
Play, Make & Take (2-5): Each week, children will make a craft to take home and enjoy some playtime on the soft play equipment.
Swimming Lessons: PC A Water Discovery, 6-18 Months; PC B Water Exploration, 19-36 Months. Youngster must be accompanied in the pool by an adult on their same YMCA Family Membership account. Click for more info on swimming programs.
PRESCHOOLERS: AGES 3-5 YEARS

Gymnastics: Tumbling, cartwheels, balancing on the beam, other floor exercises. Class assignments based on each student’s skill set, at the instructor’s discretion.
Intro to Acting: Acting exercises help performers feel comfortable and confident as they explore their natural creative ability.
Intro to Dance: Learn easy & fun dance moves in a group setting.
Intro to Music: Children learn the basic concepts of music through songs, instruments, and games.
Multi Sports: Students are introduced to a variety of sports and games including: soccer, basketball, football, tag games, and more.

YOUTH: AGES 6-12 YEARS
Actin’ Up – Drama: Students enhance their acting skills through monologues, improv, skits, and short plays.
Basketball: Learn and develop skills of the sport through drills for dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
Girls Basketball (ages 8-14): Learn and develop skills of the sport through drills for dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
Chess Club: Games are set up by age and/or skill level.
Color Pencil Art: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced levels. Create inspirational works of art while learning techniques such as layering, blending, shading, and more.
Crafting Corner: Explore a different arts and crafts projects each week such as painting, drawing, and making collages, jewelry, and macramé.
Flag Football: Individual and team offensive and defensive concepts are emphasized with considerable time spent playing games.
Girls Fit (ages 10-15): This workout provides a comfortable place for girls to workout with peers and make new friends.
Guitar: Beginner level, learn to play simple chords, rhythms, and melodies on the guitar.
Gymnastics: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. Begin at intro level; practice tumbling, cartwheels, balancing on the beam, and other floor exercises. More advanced skills as students progress. Class assignments based on each student’s skill set, at the instructor’s discretion. Private lessons available.
Homeschool Art & Inspiration: Create works of art using color pencils, markers, crayons, and paint. Enjoy expressing yourself through art that can inspire others.
Homeschool Bell Choir & Recorder Ensemble: Learn about music as we practice fun songs on the Bells & Recorder.
Homeschool Music Exploration: Discover the joy in making music on the piano, guitar, and percussion instruments.
Kids Fit: A beginner’s workout curriculum just for kids.
Let’s Dance: Learn expressive dance movements based on Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, & African styles.
Let’s Paint: Explore the art of painting with watercolors and more.
Mini Band (ages 8-14): Experience the fun of making music as a band. Musicians and singers welcome. Instrumental or vocal experience required.
Music Exploration: Discover the joy in making music on the piano, guitar, and percussion instruments.
Rock Climbing: Weekly challenges help young climbers build confidence and develop problem-solving skills to plan each move.
Rhythm & Rhyme with Drums: Learn to play drums and other percussion instruments as we learn rhythms and create beats with inspirational messages and chants.
Sewing: Beginner: Hand sewing is a life skill that promotes creativity and develops fine motor skills. Intermediate and Advanced: After completing beginner program, students continue to develop sewing techniques and skills.
Soccer: Players develop coordination and all-around athleticism.
Volleyball Training: Learn the fundamentals and develop the skills of the sport and develop effective communication amongst peers.
YMCA Kids Choir: Learn to sing and perform fun & inspirational songs while practicing the basics of singing and expression, as a group.

TEENS: AGES 13-17 YEARS
Dance Off (ages 13-17): This teen dance group explores fun, creative Hip Hop dance routines and moves with modern and African styles. Enhance dance skills, technique, confidence, and readiness to perform.
Girls Basketball (ages 8-14): Learn and develop skills of the sport through drills in dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
Girls Fit (ages 10-15): This workout provides a comfortable place for girls to workout with peers and make new friends.

Hand Percussion (ages 13+): Explore the possibilities while playing Conga Drums, Bongos, Claves, Maracas, and more using simple rhythms.

Poetry Workshop (ages 13+): Enjoy self-expression and creativity through various forms of poetry. Create, Collaborate & Perform!
Teen Fit (ages 13-17): Each session includes a workout and group game. Teens are also introduced to various group exercise classes and the YMCA Wellness Center.
Teen Strength & Endurance (ages 13-17): Train like the pro athletes with high intensity interval exercises that improve stamina, agility, and strength.

ADULTS
Drama Team (ages 18+): Enhance acting skills through monologues, skits, plays, and creative exercises. Express yourself, motivate others, and impact the community.
Guitar: Beginner level class. Learn to play simple chords, rhythms, and melodies on the guitar.
Sewing Club: Bring your sewing machine, supplies, or projects to work on and sew in the company of others. Instructor Khadijah Rahman is available to answer questions and provide guidance. All skill levels welcome.

FAMILY
Family Gym: Have some good old family fun running around in the gym – shoot hoops, play soccer, or just enjoy a simple game of tag.
Family Swim: All in attendance must actively participate in the swim session.
Note: Family must all be on the same family membership account
SOFY/MONROE

Gymnastics: Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced. Begin at intro level; practice tumbling, cartwheels, balancing on the beam, and other floor exercises. More advanced skills as students progress. Class assignments at the instructor’s discretion. Private lessons available.
Intro to Volleyball: This volleyball program encourages effective communication with peers as players learn the fundamentals and develop the skills of the sport.
Intro to Wrestling: Students develop confidence while learning the fundamentals of the sport and how to score points during these strength and conditioning workouts. Taught by instructor, Dan Gable.
Kids Fit: A beginner’s workout curriculum just for kids.
Kids MIX: Kids will have 45 minutes of PE fun in the gymnasium and on the turf.
Kids Yoga: Students practice stretching & flexibility while doing fun animal poses. Gain discipline while understanding how to be mindful in the moment.
Kidz Zumba: Learn awesome dance moves that will get your mind and body happy to music that will get you moving, grooving and sweating too!
Multi Sports: Students are introduced to a variety of sports and games including: soccer, basketball, hockey, football, volleyball, tag games, kickball, and more.
Soccer: Players develop coordination and all-around athleticism.
Swim & Gym: Don’t forget to wear sneakers and your swim suit and pack a towel for this fun-filled combination of land and water activities. Non-swimmers are welcome to participate.

Aerial Yoga: Strengthen, stretch, and invert your body in new ways while suspended from the ceiling in an aerial hammock. All levels are welcome, modifications available.
Boxing Fitness: Students learn the fundamentals of boxing during this progressive fitness program that promotes healthy living and encourage students to practice self-discipline and take responsibility for one’s actions. With Coach Rich Stephenson, of Breathing Boxing Club.

REGISTRATION
Registration for Fall Programs begins August 22, 2022
• Must have an active YMCA Family Membership.
• Registration for FREE programs is limited to 1 per person. $20 for each additional “FREE” program.
• To register online or through our app, a current e-mail address must be on file prior to registration.
• Three or more unexcused absences from a FREE program may result in being asked to forfeit the spot.
• Children age 5 & under must have a parent/guardian present during program time. Only 1 spectator per child. Spectator must be a YMCA Member.
• A parent/guardian of children 12 & under must remain at the Y.
