Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Aquatics Director will be responsible for
providing direct leadership to the Middletown Aquatics Department. A successful candidate will be
knowledgeable of water safety and aquatics best practices. The Aquatics Director will intentionally foster

Essential Functions:
• Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the members and the Y. This
includes summer day camp, birthday parties and group rentals.
• Establishes new programs/activities and expands program offerings as needed.
• Conduct swim lessons and lifeguard on a daily basis. Teach First Aid and CPR training classes for
members and staff as scheduled.
• Provide in-service trainings for aquatics department on a regular basis.
• Work closely with Association Aquatics Director and branch leadership to ensure the best Member
experience possible.

Job Description

A lifeguard certification is not required. The Y can provide the CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification at a staff discount.

• Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
• Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
• Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
• Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.

Job Title:Arts and Crafts Director
Reports to: Camp Director

General Function

Under the direct supervision of the Camp Director, the Arts and Crafts Director shall take care of arts related
project at camp. Make sure that each arts and crafts project is age appropriate and there are enough supplies for
the campers to complete their project, with the assistance counselors

Qualifications
• Must be at least 20 years of age
• Prior experience in a supervisory and camp capacity.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications AND RTE CERTIFIED.

Specific Duties
• Plan to make 45 projects for each day of camp. If there are projects that take more than one day make the
director aware.
• When projects are done set up a time to each group to come pick up their projects.
• Lead staff to assist campers with completing projects
• Inventory all supplies to make sure you have what you need before camp starts.
• Be aware of and report all daily health issues
• Alert Camp Director and or Health Director if an injury has happened.
• Participate and assist in ALL training.
• Participate in any special camp events.
• Must work the entire camp season.
• Wear camp T-shirt daily and dress appropriately.

Job Title: Child Watch/Youth Center Attendant

Reports to: Program Director or Child Watch/Youth Center Coordinator

General Function
Under the supervision of the program director or child watch/youth center coordinator, staff will provide child care services for the children of only the family members working out in the facility.

Qualifications
• Experience working with children.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Have, or be willing to obtain the certifications for CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse

Specific Duties
• To welcome each and every parent and child that comes into the Child Watch area. This is to include explaining our policies to New members, giving them our Brochure and having them complete a Parent/Child information sheet.
• To be actively engaged with the children. Staff is expected to spend time on the floor interacting with the children.
• To maintain a professional relationship with parents and other staff.
• To provide a safe and pleasant environment for any child in the program.
• To take the time to soothe or pacify a child.
• To be aware of the food a child brings into the Child Watch area, making sure that the child is the only one to consume it.
• To dress appropriately, following YMCA OF MIDDLETOWN Dress Code.
• To make sure that the TV is solely for the children’s entertainment. Only age appropriate DVD’s and/or video’s allowed.
• Responsible for cleaning the Child Watch area daily. Wipe down tables daily, toys when necessary.

• Skill is teaching crafts, songs, stories, games, sports, and related camp skills.

• Ensure the guidance and safety of all campers.
• Must help with the opening of the Camp, working at least 4 hours.

The CFO at the Middletown YMCA will play a critical role in the organization with responsibility for select financial matters including oversight to payroll. The CFO will also focus on enhancing day-to-day operations and service delivery while establishing internal controls for accurate finance and accounting processes. This multi-faceted leader will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors in strategy formulation and must possess expertise in all areas of financial management from basic accounting to managing complex operations.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent MBA, CPA, or CMA is strongly preferred. 10+ years of experience in Accounting and Financial Management is required.
