YMCA Welcomes New Board Member: Tim Hluchan

My name is Tim Hluchan, and I am proud to be a member of the YMCA on so many levels throughout the years.

My YMCA experience started 30 years ago when I attended preschool at the Middletown YMCA where I had Pat Weiss as my teacher. During and after preschool, I attended swimming lessons regularly, and was a participant in the summer camp program. While attending elementary school at Mechanicstown (now William A. Carter) Elementary School, I was a daily participant in the Club Kid after school program held at the Memorial Elementary School on Linden Ave in Middletown.

Later on, I was employed by the YMCA as a Club Kid Counsellor for the after-school program held in Goshen during my senior year in Middletown High School. I truly enjoyed working with the elementary school kids every day. In my adult life, I have returned to the YMCA. My wife and I have been members at the YMCA for many years. Our oldest son attended Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 at the Liberty St School. We are thrilled with his progress; his teachers have been phenomenal, and we are ecstatic about the program. Both of our sons attended swimming classes, as well as played soccer and tee ball with Coach Kevin.

Outside of the YMCA, I am an Investigator at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, where I have been working in Law Enforcement for 8 years. I investigate all manners of large scale and complex criminal cases including larcenies, fraud, assaults, and juvenile offenses. I also oversee Explorer Post 5110, which is a junior law enforcement program sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office. This program is intended for youth aged from 14 to 21 who are interested in training for a career in law enforcement. When I’m not at work or at the YMCA, I enjoy bicycling, carpentry, building Legos with my sons, and anything that we can do together as a family. I am excited to have been offered the opportunity to bring these experiences to the Board of Directors, and eager to continue the positive impact that the YMCA has had on my life.
