South Orange Family YMCA's Member Spotlight

If  you or anyone you know would like to share their Y story, please reach out to Maureen Locke:

Erica Bacsardi

My health and wellness journey at the South Orange Family YMCA of Monroe started in 2011 when it first opened, and has evolved over the years. I’m proud to say even though I’ve aged in these years, my overall wellness and health has improved.

Erica’s Y Story:

I’ve attended a variety of group fitness classes in the past, but my personal favorite group fitness activity is the cycling classes. Great music makes all of the hard work more fun! I’ve always met friendly and supportive people who help to make it worth it to show up and get a great workout in.

When I’m up for an extra workout, I try an occasional UTZ class. The benefit is well worth the challenging class, as it’s a total body workout and pushes my strength and endurance to levels I don’t often achieve on my own.

Since 2023, I’ve been personal training with Meital. She’s helped me to learn and try new skills in progressive weight lifting that has reshaped my overall fitness and strength. I work independently some days and with Meital for additional support weekly. I am stronger and feel better prepared for physical challenges that may come my way. The new equipment that arrived in February is also a nice bonus!

My future goals include increasing my cardiovascular fitness, gaining more strength and muscle, trying new classes, and continuing to enjoy my time at the YMCA!
