2022 Summer Camp Wrap Up

As one of the leading non-profits in Orange County, the YMCA OF MIDDLETOWN has been a leader in providing summer camp for nearly 140 years.

After another amazing summer, we are thrilled to report that the Y’s six summer camps combined, provided outstanding childcare for 1,000 campers per week; our largest enrollment to date.

Each of the camps offered the traditional camp experience for children, ages 3-14, through a variety of activities like group games, swimming, and of course arts and crafts. While the daily activities at all camps also included some non-traditional programs like S.T.E.M., two of our camps provided unique outdoor adventures like boating, fishing, archery, low and high ropes courses and rock climbing.

The Counselors In Training program gave teens ages 15-16 the opportunity participate in the camp activities themselves but to also gain experience working along side our seasoned staff to develop the skills they will need to one day become a camp counselor and lead their own camp groups.

Overall, 2023 was another wonderful summer camp season when new friends were made and lasting memories were created.
