Youth/Teen Sports & Programs

Music, Mommies, & Me Ages 4 mos- 4yrs (Will Not be offered Fall Session I)


(With Parent) A music movement class with the use of mixed instruments, pianos, maracas, chimes, puppets and bubbles which engage your child in developing fine and gross motor skills and socialization.

Preschool Dance Ages 3–4

This class is a great way to introduce dance and movement to your preschooler. Song and dance combinations will be utilized to encourage children to explore dance and improve ross motor skills.
Monday - 4:15-4:45 pm
*A minimum enrollment of 5 is needed to run this class.
 
Intro to Dance Ages 5–6

This class will offer an opportunity to learn the basic elements of ballet and jazz.
Emphasis will be on continued improvement of gross motor skills and beginning to develop fine motor skills in dance.
Monday 4:45-5:30 pm
*A minimum enrollment of 5 is needed to run this class.
 
Karate/Judo Ages 5–7

The emphasis is on discipline and leadership for children. It entails the use of punches and kicking and proper body movement encouraging the child toward body control and coordination. There is strong evidence that a well-structured karate program may help
develop stronger self-confidence and self-esteem.
Sat. - 12:30-1:15 pm

The emphasis is on discipline and leadership for children. It entails the use of punches and kicking and proper body movement encouraging the child toward body control and coordination. There is strong evidence that a well-structured Karate program may help
develop stronger self-confidence, self-esteem, and even assist children with ADD or
ADHD to become more focused in their everyday activities.
Sat - 1:30 - 2:15 pm
 
Kids Cave Ages 7 –12

A supervised exercise room just for the 7-12 yr old. The kids will get to experience the FUN of working out like their parents do. Featuring Quantum strength equipment, cardio- game bikes, and computers.
Mon - Fri - 9-12 am & 5-8:15 pm
Sat/Sun - 10:00-1:00 pm
Note: Children under 10 years of age must have a parent present in he YMCA.
 
Teen Fit

13 and 14 year old members are permitted to exercise in the Wellness Center.
However, prior to beginning their exercise program on their own, it is mandatory for all members to complete 3 orientations with a fitness trainer.
The orientation objectives will be:

*to make exercise a fun and enjoyable experience.
*to educate teens about benefits of leading an active and healthy lifestyle.
*to educate teens about exercise guidelines and principles.
*to instruct teens on how to use the exercise equipment properly and safely.
*to provide teens with self-confidence and motivation.
*free weights can only be used while supervised by a parent.

Parent must be working out with teen. Schedule 3 appointments with a trainer in the Wellness Center.

Youth Basketball League 6-12

One of the most popular programs at the YMCA!  Games will be played on Satrudays and will empahsize teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.  T-shirts and medals provided to each player.  Volunteer Coaches Needed! Note: All volunteer coaches will need to complete a volunteer application and will be subject to a background check. 

Program runs from Jan. 12th to Mar 1st.

Saturday- 6-8yrs.    11:30am - 1:30 pm

Saturday - 9-12yrs.   1:30pm - 3:30 pm

 
T-Ball Skills Clinic 4-5

A great tune up for the T-Baller prior to the season opener.  Proper technique in hitting, throwing, catching, grounders, pop ups, positioning, and base running.  Please bring a glove to the clinic.  Safety balls and bats are provided.  Runs March 8th - April 5th.

Saturday 11:30am-12:30pm

There is a minimum of 10 to run the program.

 
Youth Basketball League 13-14 & 15-16

League begins: Friday, January 11, 2008

Registration begins: Monday, December 10, 2007

Games played:

13-14 yrs (Fridays) 6-7:30pm

                (Sundays) 12-1:35pm

15-16 yrs (Fridays) 7:45-9:30pm

                (Sundays) 1:45-3:20pm

 
Baseball Clinic 6-7

Get a jump on th eothers in this preseason fundamentals needed to play the game of baseball.  Build your confidence even before the league practices begin! Please being a glove to the clinic.  Saftey balls and bats will be provided.  Runs March 8th - April 5th.

Saturday - 12:45pm-1:45pm

There is a minimum of 10 to run the program.

 
Indoor Soccer 3-4

A great introductory soccer class for your preschooler.  Emphasis will be placed on building the necessary skills and participate in a group activity. Terrific for building your child's se;f confidence, gross motor skills and socialization Parent participation encouraged!

Saturday - 9:30am - 10:15 am

Program runs: January 12th - March 1st.

March 8th - April 26th.

 

 
Outdoor Soccer 3-4, 5-6, 7-8

Soccer is one of the easiest sports ro get your child involoved in.  Great exercise...lots of running with very lieele skill required at first.  It will help promote the development of balance, strength, agility, corrdination and also provide terrifitc cardiovascular benefits.  Plus, it's a lot of FUN! Volunteer coaches need.

Saturdays (3-4 yr. Pee Wees) 9:30 am - 10:15am

                 (5-6 yr. Rookies) 10:30am - 11:30am

                 (7-8 yr. Winners) 11:45am - 12:45am

Program runs May 3rd - June 21st

 
Youth/Adult Volleyball

Volleyball will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for youth and adults.  Will be recreational in order o find players for the league.

Youth: Tu/Th 5:45pm - 7:15pm

Adult: Tu/Th  7:30pm - 9:30pm (19 years and older are welcome)
