Policies and Procedures
| Lost and Found Policy |
The YMCA of Middletown will adhere to the following
"Lost and Found"
Policy. Any items that were lost and then found, which resemble clothing of
any kind,
footwear, hats, swimwear, locker room/shower items, or fitness accessories,
will be stored
in a plastic bin in the Membership Office. Please see a Membership Associate
at the
Welcome Center in regards to claiming your lost item. If the items are not
claimed by
Friday of every week, we have no other alternative but to discard them. If
the item lost
is jewelry or has any significant value, it will be held in a secured
location for
three months. Please contact Debbie Fitzsimmons at ext. 224, or you may
visit her in her
office to claim your items. |

| Membership Procedures |
Each member will receive a permanent swipe key tag.
To assure that
only members are using the facility, please swipe your key tag upon each
visit. |
| |
| Code of Conduct |
The YMCA of Middletown is committed to providing a safe and
welcoming
environment for all members, staff, volunteers and program participants.
Members, staff
and volunteers are expected to act appropriately at all times while using
the YMCA of
Middletown facilities and programs. All staff, members and volunteers are
expected to
behave in a mature and responsible manner in accordance with all applicable
laws,
regulations, policies and procedures of the YMCA.
Failure to comply with
these expectations
as defined in this code of conduct will lead to disciplinary action, up to
and including
discharge and/or termination of membership.
It would be impossible for the
YMCA to
outline every "do" and "don’t" but rather, the policies represented here are
intended to
cover general requirements that are essential for the YMCA’s operation. |
| |
| Refund Policy |
Membership dues are non-refundable/nontransferable. Program
refunds
will be made only if the YMCA of Middletown cancels a class. Unused annual
membership
will be refunded with 30 days written notice. |
| |
| Freeze Policy |
Membership may be frozen for a minimum of
one month and
a maximum of three months per year. There is a $10 monthly charge to freeze
your
membership; all requests must be made in writing at least two weeks prior to
desired
freeze date.
Annual Memberships must pay freeze fee when the request is made
to freeze
the membership. |
| |
| Health Insurance |
The YMCA of Middletown does not provide accident insurance
for injuries
sustained during YMCA activities. Members participate in programs and use
the facility at
their own risk. |
| |
| Cell Phone Policy |
Our facility has instituted a cell phone policy for all
program
areas and locker rooms.
Cell phone use will be prohibited in the following
areas:
Wellness
Center, Base Camp, gymnasium, pool,multi-purpose room, game room, locker rooms, and any
other program and free weight
areas.
Areas such as hallways, may be used for conversations. This policy has
been adopted
for the privacy and safety of our members.
Restricting cell use in YMCA’s
and health clubs
is part of a growing trend across the country.
Thank you for your
cooperation. |
| |
| Lockers |
We strongly advise that members not bring valuables to the Y, and
that all
belongings be secured in a locked locker at all times. Day lockers are
available for
members’ use. Please bring your own lock.
The YMCA of Middletown is not
responsible for
lost or stolen property. Any locks left overnight will be removed. |
| |
| Volunteerism |
It takes only a few hours each week to make a difference in
the lives
of others:
• Help a person learn how to swim
• Coach a child in sports
• Serve on a committee
• Assist in a fund raising event
• Use your painting, office or maintenance skills
There’s much to be done, and we’d love to fit you into a unique spot at the
YMCA of Middletown. The opportunity is here and we look forward to hearing
from you.
Please contact Shavon Stallings, Human Resources Director, at ext. 229. |

| Parking |
Parking is free to all YMCA members. There are two adjoining lots at the YMCA entrance available
for your use. The third lot (on Prospect Street) is just a few steps to
the right of the front entrance. Entrance to the Prospect Street lot is easy and the lot is well illuminated. In the interest of being good neighbors, please do not park in the Elks or
Temple parking lots; as this causes them considerable inconvenience.
Thank you for your
cooperation. |
| |
| Youth Supervision |
The safety and comfort of your child is our first
priority. When your
child is enrolled in a YMCA class or program, you can be assured that the
instructor
is a trained individual with experience working with children. We require
that parents
pick up and drop off their child to the program and provide adult
supervision to and from
locker rooms. No child under the age of 10 should be left unattended. |
| |
| Physical Exams |
The YMCA recommends that all individuals consult their physician prior to
beginning any new physical activity. |
| |
| Credit Policy |
Class attendance is the responsibility of the participant.
Credits or make-ups
will not be issued because a participant has missed class. If we need to
cancel a program
due to lack of enrollment, we will issue either a credit or refund. Refunds
take at least
two weeks to process.
|
| |
| Inclement Weather Policy |
All class cancellations and building closings (due to weather or emergency)
will be
broadcast on WALL (1340 AM) and WRRV (92.7 FM) whenever possible. Please
understand that
there might be an unexpected occasion that will require us to cancel or
close without
notice. Credits will be issued if the YMCA cancels a class.
|
| |
| Schedules, Fees and Classes |
These are all subject to change due to holidays, seasonal needs, lack of
enrollment,
facility usage or other factors. All memberships are pro-rated for the month
you sign up.
Annual members are expected to pay the pro-rated fee plus the first year fee
when signing
up. Monthly draft members are expected to pay the pro-rated and the first
month fee when
signing up.
