Beat the Streets is a pro-action program for ages 10-17 created by our youth for our youth, facilitated by the YMCA of Middletown and offered by the Dyson Foundation. With this collaboration we can offer our youth an alternative from the streets and bring them into a safe and productive environment, while promoting social structure, community togetherness, and most importantly mentorship. The program runs throughout the school year. Available at: YMCA of Middletown Celebrate your child's birthday with a pool or sports party and leave the preparation to us. From set-up to clean-up, we handle it all for you! the Y will provide a party coordinator to decorate the room, greet guests, collect gifts and help distribute your refreshments. All you need to do is bring your refreshments and birthday cake. Your child also receives a YMCA Birthday Party T-shirt. Parties must be booked at least two weeks in advance and are subject to availability. Birthday parties are usually held Saturdays or Sundays, 2:00-4:00PM. Other arrangements may be possible. Club Kid, our before and after school child care program, currently runs on site at numerous elementary schools in Orange County. In most districts we provide both before and after school care for children in grades K-5. In some schools, we offer only after school care. Each Club Kid programs follows their school district’s calendar. For no additional charge, we provide this program on half days for both AM and PM participants. All of our Club Kid programs are registered and licensed by the New York State Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS). Program Goals: Our goal is to provide safe, fun and supervised care for school-age children before and after school. We strive to provide an exciting and stimulating environment, while recognizing children's needs for quiet, individual activity. We offer a program where children can make choices that best suit their needs and interests. In our daily program we strive to offer opportunities for: * Personal Growth * Improving Social Skills * Developing Leadership Skills * Appreciating Diversity * Having FUN! Incorporating YMCA Core Values of: CARING, RESPECT, HONESTY and RESPONSIBILITY Daily Activities: Children enrolled in the AM Club Kid program will have a variety of opportunities to start the day right. Activities such as arts and crafts, games and quiet time for last minute school projects are available. In the PM Club Kid program, we offer a supervised program that is less structured, allowing children to choose their daily schedule. Snack, homework time, arts and crafts, outside play, gym time and special events create a diverse afternoon of activities. Staff: All of our staff fit the criteria set forth by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. We pride ourselves on providing our staff with extensive training, which we continuously update. Our staff must be fingerprinted, have previous childcare experience and be cleared by the N.Y. State Central Clearance. We strive to provide staff that are trained, nurturing professionals who are willing to take the time to get to know each participant and their family. Registration Information: You may register at any time, space permitting. When registering your child please take note that there is a 3 school day waiting period before your child can start the program. A non-refundable registration fee is required to hold placement and monthly payments are due by the 1st of the month. Please click here for a printable Club Kid application packet. Once a week our pool is reserved for organizations who serve adults in the community with special needs. These organizations currently include Family Empowerment, ARC, and Crystal Run Village. For more information please contact our Aquatics Department at 845.956.1517.
Family Swim is a recreational swim time where families enjoy quality time playing together in our pool. Swim bubbles, noodles and pool toys are available. Inflatable floats and rafts are not permitted in our pool. Please view our pool schedule at the top of this page for the current Family Swim Schedule. Please Note: Children age 5 and younger must be accompanied in the water by an adult. Children ages 6-12 who can swim independently must have an adult present on the pool deck at all times. Non-swimmers ages 6-12 must be accompanied in the water by an adult. Non-swimmers are not permitted in the deep end of the pool unless wearing a lifejacket/bubble and must also be accompanied by an adult. Swimmers will be evaluated by a lifeguard before being permitted to swim in water deeper than their own chest level.
Celebrate your child’s birthday with us. We have a variety of party package options for you to choose from. Host the party yourself or let us do all the work. Either way, your child will have a great time at the YMCA. Parties must be booked at least two weeks in advance and are subject to availability. Click here to view the 2012 Summer Day Camp Brochure It’s not too early to think about SUMMER FUN because REGISTRATION HAS BEGUN! Registration is now underway for our summer day camp program located at our Middletown facility. Our camp services children ages 3-12. We have a traditional camp day, along with optional extended hours for a great child care alternative. At the time of registration, you will be required to provide a $50 non-refundable deposit per session to hold your child’s placement. Take advantage of this great opportunity to give your child a summer to remember at a price that’s affordable! The goals of our parent & child class (S.K.I.P.) are to increase the level of trust between parent and child in the water, to create a positive experience for the child in the water, and to introduce basic aquatic safety precautions to both parent and child. This program helps parents form reasonable and healthy expectations of their child’s progress through songs, games and activities. Classes meet once a week for 30 minutes. Note: Swimming lessons for pre-school age siblings of our S.K.I.P participants are available during many of the same time periods as our S.K.I.P. classes. Pre-School Swimming Lessons - Ages 3-6 Years In the pre-school aquatics program, children develop fundamental swimming skills that build the foundation for swimming to become a lifelong activity. Games and other activities are implemented to encourage fun while learning. Classes meet once a week for 30 minutes. #1 Pike (Beginner: Non-swimmer) #2 Eel (Advanced beginner: Non-swimmer, comfortable in the water) #3 Ray (Intermediate: Comfortable in the water, swims independently) #4 Starfish (Advanced: Swims independently, proficient at front & back crawl) Please Note: We offer the parent & child swimming lessons (S.K.I.P) for younger siblings of our preschool age swimmers during many of the classes. Private lessons allow participants to work one-on-one with one of our swimming instructors and schedule sessions around a more flexible schedule. Private lessons can be arranged for either 30 minute sessions or 1 hour sessions. Please call the Aquatics Department at 845.956.1517 or speak to the swimming instructor of your choice to make arrangements.
Through a progression of swimming levels, participants develop the skills they need to become safe, strong, and proficient swimmers. Games and other activities are implemented to encourage swimmers to have fun while learning.
