Strong Kids Campaign |
 |
We believe that lasting personal and social changes can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. That’s why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side by side with our neighbors and our community to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y. The YMCA is dedicated to strengthening our local communities, families, and children through quality programs in youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Made possible by generous contributions from local individuals and businesses, Strong Kids helps make our invaluable YMCA services available to all, regardless of their ability to pay. In 2011 our YMCA reinvested over $300,00 in our local communities, thanks to the Strong Kids Campaign. These critical funds literally changed the lives of hundreds of local families. The overall goal for our 2012 Strong Kids Campaign is $160,000. This total is made up of smaller, individual goals for each of our local Y branches. | 2012 STRONG KIDS CAMPAIGN | 2012 GOAL | GOAL-TO-DATE | | YMCA of Middletown | $135,000 | $81,958.52 | | South Orange Family YMCA | $20,000 | $27,973 | | YMCA of Sullivan County | $5,000 | $15,328 | OUR YMCA... | * | Provides a place for over 7,000 children, teens and adults to build a healthy spirit, mind and body. | | * | Supports communities from Monroe north to Middletown and Sullivan County by serving our members as well as reaching out to others who could use our programs and services. | | * | Provides early education for over 100 youth through our preschool and universal Pre-Kindergarten programs through 5 year olds | | * | Provides child cars for 1,000 school-age children each day through our Club Kid before and after school programs located in 20 different schools. | | * | Provides a safe place for more than 200 local youth and teens to spend time with friends and make new friends on Saturday nights through activities in our "Beat the Streets" program at the YMCA of Middletown and the South Orange Family YMCA. | | * | Teaches more than 400 children to swim each week. | | * | Continues to grow our programs in Sullivan County in hopes of meeting the needs of the community as we become more established. | | * | Serves 209 senior citizens by providing them with the opportunity to work out in our Wellness Centers and participating in programs designed just for them. | | * | Gives more than 450 children (per day) a summer camp experience filled with adventures and memories that last a lifetime in both Orange & Sullivan Counties. | | * | Impacts more than 2,200 children, adults and families each year by awarding financial assistance made available through our annual Strong Kids Campaign. | HOW YOUR DOLLARS WILL MAKE A CHANGE: | $100 | - | provides a Youth Membership to a local child for one year. | | $250 | - | sponsors two local children to attend YMCA Vacation Camp during winter or spring school breaks. | | $500 | - | sponsors three local children to attend one week of YMCA Summer Camp. | | $1,000 | - | provides YMCA Memberships for two local families. | | $2,500 | - | provides partial scholarships for five local children to attend the YMCA Club Kid before and after school program for one year. | | $5,000 | - | sponsors one month of our Beat the Streets program, serving over 250 youth & teens each week. | Gifts may be designated as "unrestricted", in which case we will invest it in the program or location where it is needed most.
